The Next Piece of Paperwork Arrived Last Saturday

I forgot to post that our I 800 provisional approval came in the mail last Saturday. It is just one of the many pieces of paperwork and approvals that have to be completed in order to travel to China. This was from the adoption division of the United States Citizen and Immigration Services. The next thing we are waiting for is what is called the NVC (National Visa Center) letter that is supposed to arrive in about 2 weeks from the I 800 approval letter. Once we get the NVC letter it must be sent to our agency immediately. Here is what an adoption online site describes as the rest of the process that must occur before we can travel to China: "The agency will deliver this letter to the US consulate in China. Once the consulate has your NVC letter, they will issue your Article 5 in 2-3 weeks. The Article 5 is the consulate pre-approving your child for an immigrant visa. Your agency will have a courier pick up the Article 5 and take it to the CCAA (China Center for Adoption Affairs). Once the CCAA receives the Article 5, the Travel Approval will then be issued. This takes around 2-4 weeks. At this point, your agency will make travel arrangements for you to go to China and adopt your child!" So we still have several weeks of waiting and we have learned that it generally takes the longest amount of time in the range they describe rather than the shorter amount. The CCAA seems to be very busy with paperwork these days as special needs adoptions from China are quite common. So that is where we stand...God's timing is perfect!
